Dov's desk
Dov was born in Berlin
he received his training as an architect at the Technical College of Charlottenburg in his hometown. In 1919 he married Leah, few years later, in 1923, at the age of 23, after ten years of working in Berlin, thay immigrated to Israel and settled in Jerusalem,
In the 1930s, he specialized mainly in the design of residential buildings characterized by the International Style. In 1944, he opened the "Engineer" company, in which he was a partner and operated for nearly 15 years. Later, he worked as an independent architect and designed residential and public buildings throughout the country. In 1967, he retired from the profession and went into retirement. He died in Nahariya at the age of 89.

When I was a teenager, I lived in the "little house," an independent housing unit in the yard of my parents' house.
The room was small and contained everything I needed in those days. I had a wardrobe, medium-sized
designed by Dov. It was a pretty perfect wardrobe.
Its dimensions were small, modest but it contained everything I needed in an orderly, efficient and even spacious manner,

the wardrobe had a matching chest of drawers that opened and also became a desk. The design and choice of wood were perfect, the design was functional, beautiful and modest. Many years later I learn to discover that it is a bit like Grandpa Dov. Who was a hardworking, diligent, and even innovative person and eager to create, if he did not excel in his political and communication skills and therefore was not among the prominent architects of that time. Dov was also an amateur photographer and used to walk around with a camera and document the projects he planned.
In 2018, a box of Dov's photos came to me. How stunning they were, they captured my heart and I thought about doing some kind of project that would come out of the box of these photos. I drew and wrote some of the photos, and the plan was also to try to recreate a number of pieces of furniture in Dov's spirit.
The project did not come to fruition, but it is still in my head.
